PetTopia, the mobile app, is a social media platform that was built for Pets, Pet Parents, and even Pet Admirers (those that may not have pets but still enjoy pet content). PetTopia began as just a conceptual dream by its founder. A dream that from inception to (initial) delivery took just about 6 years (which is a story for another time).
The vision and primary goals of PetTopia are reasonably simple:
1) Build the highest quality product possible that’s focused on Pets and pet related content.
2) Create opportunities for Pets and Pet Parents to connect with each other in exciting ways.
3) Help support spreading awareness of how awesome pets truly are.
4) Collaborate with like-minded entities that want to create a better world for pets.
Each of these is pinned by the underlying question “how do we help improve pets’ lives?”. Nothing too unexpected here…
But it’s really the overarching vision and goals that may be a bit more surprising (as they’re less focused on pets and rather more on humans). In the short term, these will only just be words but intime these will each begin to become a reality. These include:
1) Challenge the common stigma that Social Media is just a burden to our society. PetTopia’s hot take is that just because things have been done a certain way, doesn’t mean they can’t be done differently… or better.
2) Ensure that PetTopia is consistently being built in the best interest of its users. This should be a no-brainer but is unfortunately not often the case for many products, especially in areas where it’s most important.
3) Create in-app tools that allow users to control how and for how long they interact with the app during each session(s). There needs to be a healthy middle ground between creating exciting and engaging products while also providing users with tools to help them manage their own boundaries based on what they truly want (and/or what is truly best for them) … and that middle ground is generally very skewed.
PetTopia wants to help pave the way for all of the above. It won’t happen overnight nor will it be an easy journey but the best things in life don’t come easily.
